What is the challenge?

This quarter's challenge is a tongue speed test.  The winner will be the student who plays the given etude at the fastest tempo without stopping and without a mistake.

So how does this challenge work?

The challenge sheet music is now available for download from this page.  Students are advised to download the music so they can familiarize themselves with it before the testing begins.

There will be 3 "tests" during this challenge period - the dates are given above.  During each test week, a student will have one opportunity to complete the challenge, with a total of 3 allowed attempts during the course of the challenge.  The results of each attempt will be recorded, and the best attempt of each student will be used to determine the overall winner.  (If a student misses one of the tests, their best attempt out of the remaining one or two tests will be used to determine the winner.)

What does it cost to participate?

There is no cost to participate.  All students of Eddie Lewis are encouraged to give their tongues a good workout with this challenge.  The winner of this challenge will be recognized at the Lewis Studios Annual Awards Concert.

Who may participate?

This challenge is extended to students (all ages and all skill levels) of the Lewis Studios.  While any visitor to this webpage may take up this challenge as an enrichment exercise, only students of Eddie Lewis are eligible for any awards associated with this challenge.  To learn how to become a student of Eddie Lewis, click here.
