Brass Concert for Southbelt Community
Held on 18 Nov 2007
The
local community was recently treated to the sounds of a Sacred
Brass Concert, a special music event presented by Consort
Immanuel. The concert, held on the evening of 18 Nov, took place in
a beautiful sanctuary, kindly made available by Pastor Ledbetter of the
Mount
Olive
Lutheran
Church
in
Scarsdale Boulevard
.
The
concert was themed around elegant, sacred music, and featured a Brass
Quintet, a Brass Quartet, a Trumpet Duo, a Low Brass Trio, and a Beginning
Trumpet Ensemble. To emphasize the focus on the Southbelt area, only
original brass compositions by Sagemont resident and composer, Eddie
Lewis, were included in the program.
The
musicians performing at the concert were Eddie Lewis (trumpet), Carol
Morgan (trumpet), Carl Muller (trombone), Deborah Rathke (horn), and
Andrew Eason (tuba). To the delight of the audience, the concert
also included four pieces performed by a junior trumpet ensemble.
Two of these pieces saw the four young men and one young lady of this
ensemble experience the excitement of playing alongside accomplished,
professional musicians. The Beginning Trumpet Ensemble meets
regularly to practice as a group, and is directed by Eddie Lewis.
This was their first public performance as a group.
Consort
Immanuel has other exciting events planned for this area during 2008.
